Since receiving her Master’s Degree in Education (Special Education and Counseling) from the University of Toronto, Asha has worked extensively in both professional and volunteer capacities with all aspects of social service delivery to the community. For the past eighteen years, she has been with Thistletown Regional Centre in Etobicoke as a Regional Family Worker. Asha recently launched her new initiative, The Medical Connection Inc. while serving as a consultant to social and community groups on a variety of issues. She is the recipient of numerous awards and commendations, including the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Award for Outstanding Community Service (2002). Asha is also very active as a volunteer, and is currently the Chair of Community Fundraising for the Canadian Cancer Society, a position she has held since 2002. Asha has recently been reappointed by the Province of Ontario as a member of the Ontario Review Board until 2012.
